PhD Program
The PhD program is divided into two stages: The first stage (stage A) starts when the student is admitted to do his/her PhD in our department and ends when he/she finishes writing the PhD proposal. This stage can take no more than two semesters only (i.e., one year). The second stage (stage B) starts after the proposal is approved and ends after the student submits his/her dissertation. This stage may last up to two years.
To write a PhD dissertation, unless recommended by the student's supervisor(s), the student does not need to take additional courses. Sometimes the supervisor requests that an additional supervisor join him/her, especially when the research is interdisciplinary.
